Halil Yılmaz, who established and gave his name to Halil Yilmaz Machinery, was born in 1947 in Kayseri, Turkey. In 1969, he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University. Between 1972-1976 he established the Kayseri Lime Plant, known as Erciyes Lime today, and served as the Technical Operations Manager of the company. Having started his research and applications in lime kilns and related units, Halil Yılmaz also became interested in cement factories and technologies during the same years. He established Kırşehir Meytaş Lime Plant and served as General Manager between 1976 and 1982. He, then, joined the Nuh Çimento family of companies between the years 1982-1988 and was appointed Assistant General Manager of Nuh Çimento and the Manager of Nuh Lime Plant. During the same years, he established and took part in operating ready-mix concrete plants which was quite a new practice in Turkey at the time. Halil Yilmaz firmly believed that there was no need to rely on international companies regarding machinery, facilities or project design in the lime and cement industry, therefore established Halil Yilmaz Machinery in 1991 with this thought in mind and became one of the referential names in the Turkish lime industry.
